Q1.    Why do business with AEO, and not deal directly with the supplier?

A1.    AEO is experienced at meeting the needs of the commercial and Industrial market.  AEO understands the various program requirements and enrollment processes, the suppliers involved and their histories.  In addition, AEO will obtain the lowest possible price by presenting your requirements to multiple suppliers that will bid for your business. AEO will be available to answer or obtain answers, in simple English, for any question you may have. AEO deals with suppliers that will not only guarantee your savings rate, but can also arrange for suitable financing, if necessary.

Q2.    What are energy deregulation and alternative suppliers?

A2.    In the past few years, several states have taken steps to deregulate electricity and natural gas costs by licensing alternative suppliers.  These alternative suppliers compete with public utilities by permitting discounts on electricity and natural gas.

Q3.    Does my state fall-under a deregulation program that will enable me to save money on electricity and/or gas?

A3.    That depends on a variety factors.  We will need some basic information from you to make an accurate determination.  Approximately 40 states have enacted some form of energy deregulation.  We are able to serve most customers. As we do appreciate your time and consideration, at the very least, we will provide you with informational assistance.

Q4.    Does my local energy utility remain with my program if I make a new supplier choice? Also, what will the local utility continue to do for me?

A4.    Your local utility will continue to be your utility - providing the same services (including emergency) while distributing electricity and natural gas over their lines and pipes.

Q5.    Will I have a different status with my utility if I change to a new electricity or natural gas supplier?

A5.    Absolutely not!  Either way, if you are an alternative program customer or a general service customer, you are not taken away from your utility company. They must service you as reliably as always, this is the law.

Q6.    How long does it take from the time I sign with a new supplier until they provide me with electricity or natural gas?

A6.    Usually it takes one billing cycle, or the equivalent of about 45 days.

Q7.    Is there any cost for me to make the change?

A7.    Services are provided for you the consumer at no charge by AEO Marketing. However, there are a few requirements the marketer is not permitted to provide for you. It is the customers’ responsibility to provide a means for data transmissions to the supplier (electronic meter reading, meaning a dedicated or shared phone line to the electric meter). Cost in most cases about $100.00

Q8.    Can I obtain detailed information about any Alternative Electricity or Natural Gas Supplier?

A8.    Yes. Generally, operational and financial data, along with a draft of your contract, is available from each supplier through the applicable state agency.  For example, in Michigan that agency is the Michigan Public Service Commission.  We can assist you will ascertaining the correct agency in your state.

Q9.    How do I obtain a competitive proposal?

A9.    AEO is an agent for many alternative suppliers in different states. We will obtain the necessary data for you and review the marketplace to obtain the very best quote available. There is no charge to you for our services.

Q10.  Is there a time limit for my decision, once I receive the proposal?

A10.  Yes, electricity and natural gas prices are market driven as part of the daily active commodity market by the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange). It is imperative that you the consumer are ready and able to commit into a binding Contract within 24 hours as commodity prices change so rapidly in this energy hungry nation. Quotes may be renewed subject to current market pricing any time an offer is expired and an opportunity is missed.

Q11.  What length contract is available from Alternative Energy Suppliers?

A11.  Contracts can be written for 24 to 48 months depending on the Supplier.

Q12.  What is AEO’s role once I am a customer of an alternative supplier?

A12.  AEO will always be available for you in case you may have questions or need help. We will be delighted to serve you again once your contract nears its maturity. You the consumer need to keep in mind that your needs may change as your suppliers requirements and prices may change. Perhaps you want to renew or have other suppliers re-bid your specific utility needs.  As a professional agent, we have access to the broadest possible marketplace, and we will provide information and services to each of our clients, as they require.

Q13.  What is a Strike Price Agreement?

A13.  A Strike Price Agreement is a binding contract with a supplier of your choice, agreeing to purchase energy for a specific price.  The agreement becomes effective if and when the price of energy meets the target price.

Q14.  Under a Strike Price Agreement, do I have a guarantee?

A14.  No, not until the desired price is met, within the specified time Limit.

Q15.  What happens if I sign a Strike Price Agreement?

A15.  Nothing immediately; unless the requirements are met.

Q16.  Pending a Strike Price Agreement, will I still receive my energy from my utility?

A16.  Yes, you will remain a General Service customer with your Utility. No change takes place.

Q17.  What happens if my price requirements are met within the Strike Price Agreement time limit?

A17.  Your account will immediately be enrolled into the alternative program, and your savings will begin within the next billing cycle of your utility.

Q18.  What happens if I am not available when a Strike Price Agreement is met?

A18.  No problem, just give written notice to us to nullify your contract.

Q19.  What happens if the price of energy falls way below my fixed Price?

A19.  A.E.O. Marketing has suppliers that will adjust the price for your energy to the NYMEX. However this price assurance feature does come at a cost - reflecting upon your current rate at 1.0 to 1.5 millicent per KWH.
